How to Soften Your Charis Honey Infusions
Since cold-packed honey is unprocessed, it naturally firms up. To keep that premium cold-packed quality intact, you want to avoid high heat, which can damage the natural enzymes and flavor. Follow these steps to return it to a liquid state without losing its nutritional benefits.
Delicious Charis Honey Infusions! That thick, spreadable texture is actually a badge of honor—it means the honey is raw, unprocessed, and packed with all the beneficial properties of honey.
But I get it. Sometimes you don't want a spoonful or a spread; you want a smooth pour to drizzle on foods and cold brewed infusions.
Here is my go-to guide for softening your honey while keeping its soul intact.
Step Away From the Microwave: I know it’s tempting, but microwaves heat unevenly. They can "cook" the honey in spots, destroying the beneficial properties that make cold-packed honey so special.
The Warm Water Bath
This is the absolute gentlest way to transform your honey while preserving its integrity.
Seal It Tight: First things first—ensure your lid is tightly sealed. Very important! You do not want any water sneaking into your honey jar, or it could spoil.
Warm Your Water: Bring a small pot of water to a simmer, then remove it from the heat. You’re aiming for warm (about 40°C), not boiling. If it’s too hot for your finger, it’s too hot for the honey. High temperatures degrade the honey’s natural aroma and health benefits.
Wait: Place the jar into the warm water and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes.
Stir: Carefully lift the jar out and give it a good stir. If you’re still looking for a thinner consistency, just repeat the process with fresh warm water.
